This is the Ramzan Siren sound: the Hi-Lo wail that masjids play to announce the end of Sehri and the time of Iftar. Press play to listen, or download it free to use as a ringtone or a Sehri alarm on your phone.
About the Ramzan Siren sound
The Ramzan Siren plays an unbroken tone that slowly rises and falls, the “wooooOOOOooee” sound of a classic Hi-Lo wail. It is designed to be recognised instantly across a neighbourhood, so families know at once that Sehri has ended or that it is time to open the fast. You will hear it called the roza siren, sehri ka siren or iftar ka siren; the sound is the same.
This sound is produced by the ABR e-Siren, the electronic Ramzan Siren made only for masjids. Instead of a motor on the minar, it generates the wail electronically and plays it through the masjid’s own amplifier and horn speakers. Learn how an electronic siren works.

When masjids play the Ramzan Siren
Most masjids sound the siren twice a day in Ramadan: shortly before Sehri ends at Fajr, and at Iftar at sunset. Some also sound a wake-up siren earlier in the night. See today’s timings for your city in the Ramadan Calendar 2027, and read how masjids run the Iftar and Sehri siren.
